Internal tourism would grow up to 12% for homelands, project

The Chamber of Commerce of Lima (CCL) in manufacturing, today the domestic tourism for Fiestas Patrias will grow between 10% and 12%, due to coincide with the school holidays, the Pan american Games and the payment of bonuses.

“This is because it will be a long weekend which starts from Friday July 26 at mid-day and extending until Tuesday, July 30, as a non-business day by the decree of the government”, stated the president of the Guild of Tourism of the Chamber of Commerce of Lima (CCL), Gabriela Fiorini.

He specified that the average expenditure per person would be around 500 soles, which would include transportation, food, lodging and recreational activities.

” An option to find good offers for these holidays is the website ‘and you what plans’ of the Peruvian Promotion Commission for export and Tourism (Promperú), ” Fiorini added.

It should also be noted that there is a new program implemented by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) of “safe tourism” that seeks to guarantee a safe travel and stay experience.

The executive commented that this year many families will take advantage of the sports event to travel from the interior to Lima, an atypical behavior compared to previous years, which will help to energize the sector.

“There are good promotions of tourist packages that offer various agencies, and if it comes to visiting relatives too, airlines have been launching quite attractive fares for a while,” he said.

As for the most popular destinations, Fiorini added that many of the trips will take place within the regions themselves.

“In the case of Lima, which has a strong winter, travelers will prefer to look for destinations with a warmer climate, in search of sunny days. In this sense, the main regions most visited will be Ica, Cusco, Piura and Arequipa,” he said.

The 2019 Lima Pan American and Parapan American Games are expected to attract a total of approximately 100,000 tourists to the Peruvian capital, according to the business guild.

“The hotel occupancy rate will be 85%. In this way, the Lima market will lead the occupation levels in the region, since the average occupation between the regions of Central and South America as of May 2019 was 56.7%, ” Fiorini said.
